We Read Together (Tusome Pamoja) is the Mission's principal education activity to improve student outcomes in reading in the early primary grades.
This activity will work with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of Tanzania and Zanzibar to review and implement a lower primary education curriculum that prioritizes reading, writing and arithmetic. The program will build on, deepen, and expand the successful interventions of the preceding TZ21 Program.
Efforts will support: improved early grade reading outcomes; improved quality of reading instruction, including teacher-conducted assessments; scalable teacher development, training and coaching-mentoring systems; improved district and school-based planning through data analysis; and community support of schools and teaching-learning processes.
Tusome Pamoja will encourage parental engagement in education by developing simple assessments and tools that parents can use to monitor reading performance.
