The Early Grade Reading Program (EGRP) directly supports USAID's Education Strategy Goal One of improved reading skills for 100 million children and supports the Government of Nepal's (GON) School Sector Development Program, which is funded by multiple donors and the GON.
USAID will help the Ministry of Education develop, test, and institutionalize interventions to improve the delivery of early grade reading instruction for students in grades 1-3.
EGRP focuses on improving teacher effectiveness; strengthening student assessment at different levels of the education system and for different purposes, increasing the quality, availability and use of reading materials; and strengthening classroom and school management, among other reading-related activities.
