Grant Description

The purpose is to provide technical leadership and targeted/coordinated action based on sound analysis and evidence to combat global wildlife and timber trafficking.

This activity will build on current investments and work across the enforcement spectrum to increase the detection and prosecution of these crimes, work with national/regional counterparts to secure the source of trafficked wildlife and timber and reduce demand for and value of these products thereby reducing illegal exploitation of biodiversity.

The activity will support and bring to scale innovative and effective approaches, demonstrate technical leadership on this high-priority foreign policy and development issue and share best practices widely with the conservation and law enforcement community.

The activity will improve governance, reduce corruption, mobilize civil society and media and advance the rule of law and national security. Legal trade in timber and wildlife will increase in value and competitiveness.
