Northern Nigeria Education Initiative Plus (NEI+)

The Northern Nigeria Education Initiative Plus (NEI+) activity strengthens Nigeria's governance structures to better provide education services.

Principal interventions include improving reading skills and instructional methodologies to teach reading; increasing access to primary school for out-of-school youth; strengthening government capacity at both state and local levels, and engaging civil society organizations and communities.

USAID will continue to work in two northern states (Bauchi and Sokoto) to 1) strengthen effective education management systems, focusing on increased capacity to provide quality education services; 2) improve education quality, demonstrated by increased reading skills; and, 3) increase equitable access to safe, relevant and accredited educational options.
