Grant Description

The President of Kenya intends to launch the Kenyan Livestock and Crop Insurance programs in 2016 .

The AIDP will provide the analysis and TA to support the development on the data management plan and area yield crop cutting system. They will complete development of the area yield crop insurance component in the first two counties in March 2016. Four additional counties will be added to the livestock program in Fall 2016.

In Bangladesh, the AIDP team will present the analytical policy note to government stakeholders in early Fall 2015.

The priorities identified by government stakeholders for this analysis included: 1) insurance linked to credit for semi-commercial farmers; insurance for cover for dairy cows, artisanal fisheries and shrimp production; and agricultural insurance for vulnerable farmers. The analysis includes fiscal costing and economic impact of each option.
