FFP supported a USAID Implementing Partner's United in Building and Advancing Life Expectations (UBALE) Development Food Security Activity targeting nearly 250,000 vulnerable households to reduce chronic malnutrition and food insecurity and build resilience to environmental and economic shocks in three of the most food insecure, chronically malnourished and disaster-prone districts of southern Malawi.
UBALE focused on increasing vulnerable household income, improving the health and nutrition of Malawian mothers and children, strengthening governance and natural resource management, and improve smallholder farmer productivity in coordination with the Government of Malawi.
