Grant Description

The "New Path" activity directly supports USAID Jamaica's objective of reducing citizen vulnerability while improving the security of communities and at-risk youth.

It also supports the CBSI pillar of promoting social justice through crime prevention activities in targeted communities, with increased educational, economic and social opportunities for at-risk youth and other vulnerable populations.

Interventions include providing skills, psychosocial support, and business training that give youth economic opportunities and social skills, which make them less likely to re-offend and commit crimes; thus, improving citizen security.

USAID will build the capacity of the Department of Correctional Services and the Ministry of National Security to engage with vulnerable groups through sensitivity training and study tours of similar facilities in other countries.
