The National Doctoral Programme in Virus Infections and Pandemics (NDP-VIP) aims to advance the training and recruitment of PhD students and postdocs in virology and pandemic preparedness.
This collaborative initiative involves nine leading Swedish universities and provides an interdisciplinary research environment integrating virology, epidemiology, public health, and social sciences for comprehensive training and understanding of infectious disease dynamics.NDP-VIP offers advanced courses taught by renowned researchers, covering viral pathogenesis, emerging viruses and zoonotic transmission, antiviral and vaccine development, socio-economic impacts of pandemics, and pandemic preparedness.
Practical training in cutting-edge methodologies is a core component.The program fosters interdisciplinary cooperation through national virology network meetings, allowing PhD students and postdocs to present their research to the Swedish virology community.
These activities aim to strengthen collaborations, facilitate knowledge exchange, and promote cross-disciplinary research and innovation.NDP-VIP’s outreach strategies, including partnerships with the Swedish Society for Virology and international collaborations, aim to attract top-tier candidates and create a vibrant network of young researchers.
This initiative seeks to produce leading scientists and enhance Sweden´s capacity to respond to emerging infectious threats, ensuring national resilience and preparedness for future pandemics.
