The National Doctoral Program in Infection Biology and Antimicrobials (NDPIA), a joint initiative of six Swedish universities, promotes training and recruitment of PhD students and postdocs in infection biology and antimicrobials.
NDPIA will offer advanced level courses taught by renowned national and international researchers providing current knowledge on each topic.
The research school will host national infection biology network meetings, where these emerging researchers present their work to the infection biology community.
These activities aim to strengthen both Swedish and global networks, facilitate knowledge exchange, and foster cross-disciplinary research and innovation.
Courses will cover a range of topics such as emergence and transfer of resistance, antimicrobial development and mechanisms of resistance, alternative therapeutics for infectious diseases, vaccinology, design of clinical studies and trials for infectious diseases, clinical diagnostic methods to detect pathogens and antimicrobial resistance, surveillance of pathogens and antimicrobial resistance in humans, animals and the environment, live-imaging techniques to study intracellular infections, and the One-Health approach to infectious disease.
Overall, the NDPIA program will enhance the quality of research in infection biology in Sweden and will contribute to worldwide initiatives to fight infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance by fostering the development of the future scientists.
