The purpose of the WHEM network (Women in Higher Education Management) is to foster international research collaborations on leadership and management in higher education with a special focus on gender equality.
Albeit unfunded, WHEM has thrived due to the dedication of its members and expanded to become a high-profile global network, consisting of researchers within educational sciences and social sciences in 14 countries. The Network has gained an international reputation and published four books together.
The latest book Gender and Power in Higher Education in a Globalised World was published in 2021.
The current project explores crisis and crisis management in Higher Education from a gender and diversity perspective and will end in 2024.
REACHING is the next three-year (2025-2027) collaborative research project for WHEM.The global character of WHEM is a strength but also a challenge when developing collaborative projects. The challenges are further amplified by the expansion during the last couple of years.
The purpose of the application is therefore consolidation through the organisation of face-to-face network meetings to complement the regular digital meetings. A total of six meetings will be organised during three years; two each year.
The aim of the meetings will be to continue to develop creative and productive teamwork, sharing of ideas and experiences, to increase possibilities of cross-cultural understandings, but also to coordinate dissemination activities.
