Grant Description

This project aims to develop extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics based on strongly coupled gauge theories, positing the Higgs boson as a composite particle.Building on recent work, the project seeks to address new key challenges: creating a flavor structure to explain fermion mass hierarchy while respecting flavor constraints, and characterizing CP violation, including addressing the strong CP problem.Renormalizable theories will be constructed to generate the required effective interactions at lower energies.

The allowed parameter space for these theories will be identified and concrete scenarios will be proposed, to be tested via lattice simulations.

Theoretical developments will be closely linked with experimental activities at CERN, particularly with the ATLAS and CMS groups searches for vector-like quarks, and LHCb searches for light bosons.

We will pay close attention to the interplay between these searches and the constraints on the effective theory operators. The extensive network of collaborators focusing on this tasks will be aided by a postdoctoral fellow to enhance project capabilities.Research on flavor beyond the Standard Model is crucial as it provides insights into fundamental questions regarding the origin of mass hierarchies among elementary particles and the underlying mechanisms behind CP violation, essential for understanding the asymmetry between matter and antimatter in the universe.
