Purpose and goal:
The aim of the project is to develop and implement uniform operational processes and procedures for coordinated and just-in-time port calls that ensure ships can arrive at the port. The System Demonstrator contributes to this by creating a copyable and spreadable port call coordination with just-in-time concept, based on various possible solutions for JIT.
Expected results and effects:
Expected results are a more seamless coordination and more efficient processes as well as a common situational awareness for planning and traffic coordination among the involved actors, a basis for development and implementation in other Swedish ports as well as work with the application of regulations, business models and system support for future port calls.
This is expected to improve the efficiency of the actors involved and reduce the vessels´ fuel consumption and emissions at sea. Approach and implementation:
Existing technical systems at the ports (Gävle, Piteå and Luleå) will be used. Integrations between actors´ systems will need to be developed. Unified processes to create a common situational awareness will be developed. The transport buyers are involved through Norrbottens Logistikråd. The University of Gothenburg will contribute with regulatory and contractual issues.
The Swedish Maritime Administration coordinates the project and has a central role through its pilotage and icebreaking.
