Purpose and goal:
Just Tech?’s raison d´existence is the assertion that tech is entangled in the social and we need to create spaces for talking about and researching those entanglements. Thus, the double entente. Just Tech? is both interested in how tech can be more just, but also engaged in combating the idea of tech exceptionalism. Our stance is that it is not ok to just develop tech and leave concern about its social justice aspects to others.
Expected results and effects:
Just Tech? will consist of multidisciplinary expert teams from the EU and the US and work with hybrid seminars, on-line webinars, lectures for public organizations, guest researcher visits and policy overviews. It will produce insights and input to those engaged in tech development, education, adoption and use.
Approach and implementation:
Equality and equity – along the lines of gender and other categories – is the underlying driving force of the think tank’s work. Our instruments include: hybrid seminars, on-line webinars, lectures for public organizations, guest researcher visits and policy overviews. WP 1: Organization and start-up phase
WP 2: Seminars and webinars (2-3 per term) WP 3: Guest researcher visits (1--2 per year) WP 4: White Paper Series: annual overview of how AI is being engaged for good.
