Purpose and goal:
The proposed project focuses on a collaborative staff exchange between Sweden and Japan to develop an AI-based methods for the early detection of dysphagia, particularly among seniors. Building on previous collaboration between RISE och Institute of Science Tokyo, this initiative aims to utilize AI technology for analyzing voice recordings in connection with swallowing.
Expected results and effects:
The exchange will enhance expertise in voice analysis, integrating machine learning and explainable AI to identify features related to dysphagia, ensuring robust and reliable outcomes. RISE will gain competence in specialized voice analysis and AI techniques from Japanese institutions. This collaboration addresses the aging populations in both countries, emphasizing early detection methods to prevent frailty of seniors.
Approach and implementation:
One person from RISE will spend two months in Japan, where he will receive training in voice analysis, engage in clinical evaluations, and develop a protocol for collecting voice samples. The project includes visits to other universities to connect with experts in voice analysis, facilitating broader knowledge exchange and partnerships in healthcare technology.
