Purpose and goal:
The purpose of the project is to establish a collaborative project within applied AI in an additive manufacturing context. This collaboration is between the Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Cambridge. The project aims to propose a method for AI-based deformation compensation to improve the geometric quality of additively manufactured parts.
Expected results and effects: The expected outcome of this project is to propose a method utilizing AI
principles for approximating the deformation of the additive manufactured parts and compensate for this error. This method is planned to be published by
means of an open-access publication. This method can enhance the understanding of the manufacturing process of complex parts by analyzing the expected outcome. The manufacturing industries can take advantage of the developed method plan and adjust the designed product. Approach and implementation:
The project is planned to start with the pre-study phase in December 2024. The research visit to the University of Cambridge is planned to take place from February to July 2025. During this time, the project is executed by initiating descriptive and prescriptive studies. At the end of the project, final seminars will take place, including both project parties to share project results and establish future collaborations.
