Purpose and goal:
This project aims to initiate a prior research collaboration between Sweden and Singapore for developing room-temperature single-photon emitters at telecom wavelengths based on cubic silicon carbide. These single-photon emitters are essential for quantum technology protocols such as quantum information processing, quantum simulation, quantum networks, and quantum communications.
Expected results and effects:
The main outcome of this project is to establish a long-term collaboration between Sweden and Singapore for the development of room-temperature single-photon emitters at telecom wavelengths based on cubic silicon carbide. A detailed roadmap for future experimental development will be planned, and the research proposal for the stage-2 research call will be finalized by the end of this stage 1 project.
Approach and implementation:
The project will be carried out through online meetings, in-person discussions, and a three-week visit by the Swedish team to Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. This visit will deepen partnerships, explore collaboration opportunities, and support detailed planning for the Stage 2 research proposal, including joint experiments and new research ideas. By the end of Stage 1, we will submit our joint research proposal for Stage 2 research funding.
