Next generation floating wind power for large wind farms

Purpose and goal:

To enable Windeed AB to create a winning grant application to EU Horizon regarding design, fabrication and construction of a first demonstrator of a floating wind turbine optimized for mass production.

The main goals are:

- Select and prepare agreements with participating partners

- Decide on key technology choices

- Describe strategy and plan for necessary permits

- Describe plan for funding of the main project

- Describe the business strategy for further expansion



Expected results and effects:

The project must deliver a complete proposal that meets the call´s mandatory eligibility requirements and thus be evaluated by experts appointed by EU Horizon. If the grant is awarded to Windeed, the construction of the first demonstrator will demonstrate to the industry, insurers and financiers that floating wind farms can be constructed in large numbers continuously over time at a low a cost on par with land-based wind power but with less negative impact on people and the environment.

Approach and implementation:

The project is carried out during the period 28 October to submission prel. February 4, 2025.

Work package 1 aims to complete the creation of the consortium which will be part of the proposal and which will later deliver the main project.

Work Package 2 aims to create and assemble the entire proposal in such a way that it both fulfills the mandatory requirements but also describes the main project benefits and effects so that the consortium is awarded the support to build a first demonstrator.
