ENTITLED examines the unequal distribution of common mental disorders (CMD) and substance use disorder (SUD) burdens and unmet needs of individuals requiring mental health and substance use services across diverse social groups in Sweden. This mixed-method research covers three studies in four years.
In Study 1 (Months 4-24), we conduct a time-series analysis to analyse the trends of CMD and SUD and the use of mental health and substance use services from 2015 to 2024 in Sweden and if the trends had been interrupted by the pandemic.
In Study 2 (Months 9-30), we conduct a cross-sectional survey on a purposive sample to measure the unmet needs of persons requiring mental health and substance use services and identify populations in vulnerable contexts using Multilevel Analysis of Individual Heterogeneity and Discriminatory Accuracy (MAIHDA).
Study 3 includes in-depth interviews with persons with lived experience of CMD and SUD (Months 18-30) and focus group discussions with service providers (Months 25-42) to explore the facilitators and barriers influencing the provision of and access to adequate mental health and substance use services.
ENTITLED brings together a multidisciplinary team with expertise in clinical, public health, epidemiology and social work.
ENTITLED supports the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by ensuring that no one is left behind by contributing to inclusive healthcare policies that promote equal access to mental health and substance use services.
