Purpose and goal: With increased global tension, the risk for Sweden to be exposed to CBRNe threats also increases.
The goal of the project is to initiate a collaboration between Swedish CBRNe industry and robotics research, and together through the project perform technology demonstrations of how robotic systems can be used within CBRNe. The project will investigate the opportunities and challenges of automating CBRNe missions, as well as develop new intelligent robot autonomy for selected CBRNe scenarios.
Expected results and effects:
The project follows up on FOI´s recently published report (https://www.foi.se/rapporter/rapportsammanfattning.html?reportNo=FOI-R--5640), and investigates and tests new use cases within CBRNe for autonomous systems.
In the long term, the project will increase Sweden´s preparedness against CBRNe threats through a more effective response and faster tracking of threats. Robotization of CBRNe missions has great potential to reduce the risk of operators being exposed to hazardous substances on duty. Approach and implementation:
The project brings together expertise in field robotics from Robotics & AI Group at University of Technology with expertise in CBRNe systems from Saab. In the project´s activities, parallel development of both robot autonomy and CBRN equipment takes place, which are then brought together in joint technology demonstrations in realistic field environments.
Partners within the project will work closely together throughout its execution through workshops, focus meetings, and regular field tests.
