Multidisciplinary University-Industry Collaboration for Mineral to Material Innovation (MUMIN)

Purpose and goal:

The project aims to meet the increasing demand for qualified professionals in the materials, minerals and metallurgy sectors, both in Sweden and globally. By renewing the recruitment process across the entire material value chain, the project aims to create a stable foundation for a broader supply of skills. The goal is to identify new methods of recruiting students and thus increase the number of students choosing education programs in the materials, minerals and metallurgy sectors.

Expected results and effects:

Within the project, innovative recruitment strategies will be developed to attract a diverse student body to bachelor´s and master´s programs. These strategies will be included in a recruitment plan, and relevant information materials will be produced. Furthermore, a mapping of knowledge needs in lifelong learning will be carried out to identify lifelong learning modules for industry professionals and establish stronger collaborations with industry partners.

Approach and implementation:

The project is divided into three different work packages, each of which represents different parts of the work. The work package includes the development of a student recruitment strategy, the development of course plans for lifelong learning and the dissemination and presentation of results. The work will be carried out in close cooperation between academia and industry.
