Coral Guardians (CG) is a project that has been jointly run since 2011 by leading researchers in sustainability science at the Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC) and experienced communicators at the non-profit organization Albaeco. "A Call from Raja Ampat" is, in turn, a new sub-project within Coral Guardians, collaborating with Swedish photographer and documentary filmmaker Mattias Klum to raise awareness about the world´s coral reefs.
This is achieved by highlighting Raja Ampat – a remote archipelago in Indonesia where the rich marine life has been exceptionally well-preserved, thanks to favorable natural conditions and collaboration between scientists, authorities, and local communities.
The project will connect culture and science in three integrated parts:An artistic documentary that educates and inspires audiences worldwide.Newly composed coral reef-inspired film music and music videos that will spread knowledge and motivation both locally and globally.A scientific call to action through short videos (reels) for social media, encouraging increased protection of coral reefs and motivating the necessary steps to curb global warming and save biodiversity.
