Infrastructure for Civil-Military Synergies - Ideon

Purpose and goal:

The purpose of this project is to develop a national infrastructure for civil-military innovation, enhancing collaboration between civilian and military actors in technology development. The goal is to strengthen Sweden’s military capability by commercializing dual-use technologies, thereby boosting the country´s competitiveness. The project will also ensure international connections to enable Swedish innovations to compete in the global market.

Expected results and effects:

The expected outcomes include a detailed model for a national infrastructure for civil-military innovation, along with the identification of key actors and resources. The effects will be increased collaboration between the civilian and military sectors, improved technology development and innovation, as well as enhanced Swedish defense capability and competitiveness on both national and international levels. This will contribute to greater security and faster integration of new technologies.

Approach and implementation:

The project will be carried out in three steps. First, meetings with key stakeholders will be held to gather insights and identify components for the infrastructure. Next, a model and strategy will be developed on how the national infrastructure can be structured, focusing on collaboration between actors. Finally, a final report will be compiled, presenting the model and resource needs, which will be presented to Vinnova and other stakeholders.
