Purpose and goal:
The BatterInk project by n-ink AB aims to develop eco-friendly, high-performance conductive binders for Li-ion batteries, replacing traditional toxic materials to enhance energy efficiency and support sustainable battery production. Our goal is to validate and scale this innovative binder technology for industrial use, providing a safer, more cost-effective alternative that meets future regulatory standards and strengthens the global- and Swedish battery value chain.
Expected results and effects:
BatterInk is expected to deliver PFAS-free, NMP-free conductive binders that outperform traditional materials in energy density, thermal stability, and environmental safety. By validating and scaling this technology, we aim to offer battery manufacturers a sustainable solution that simplifies production and reduces costs. The project supports global regulatory shifts, enabling safer battery production and contributing to a greener, more resilient energy storage industry.
Approach and implementation:
The BatterInk project will optimize and test conductive binders through rigorous lab and pilot production phases, ensuring compatibility with existing battery materials. Key milestones include performance validation in coin and pouch cells, production scalability from 200 L to 2000 L weekly, and close collaboration with industry partners. This structured approach aims to confirm the binder´s industrial viability and establish a foundation for large-scale adoption in sustainable energy storage.
