Purpose and goal:
XENSE Vision has developed a technology that can be used to create a collaborative traffic system, where detailed knowledge of road users´ positions and intentions in real time can be used to optimize traffic flow and reduce accidents. The goal is to determine whether there will be a strong business case for collaborative traffic systems and investigate XENSE Vision´s role in a future eco system. In the first stage, the specific focus will be on the optimization of traffic signals.
Expected results and effects:
If the business risks can be successfully minimized, the expected results in the short term are that XENSE Vision can find relevant partners for pilot projects and early commercial projects as well as applications within Horizon Europe. In the longer term, collaborative traffic systems can reduce the negative impact of traffic on emissions, accessibility, accidents and the need to build new roads.
Approach and implementation:
In stage one, the focus is on investigating the commercial business around the optimization of traffic lights, which actors are involved, how investment decisions are made and our part in the value chain. In later phases, we will look at the actual benefits such a system can provide in a pilot project, look at the business risks when connected vehicles become a larger part of the traffic system, and look at the business risks when automated vehicles become a larger part of the traffic system.
