Purpose and goal: The goal of the project is to develop and establish new formats for how to tell stories in Extended Reality (XR) i.e. in ecosystems of social VR. The collaboration between SKH and RISE will focus on the possibilities of platforms such as VRchat and Meta Horizon in order to develop best practices for dramaturgy, engagement and participation.
A prototype with participants in social VR will be made with network partners in the US. It is about telling stories collaboratively in real time. Expected results and effects: XR AAA wants to explore and develop behaviours and user patterns in XR. The project strengthens Sweden´s position as an innovative force in XR storytelling.
It brings artistic research and education together with relevant industries in closer dialogue. This contributes to the country´s capacity to produce innovative educational and entertainment solutions. The US XR industry will be enriched by the introduction of new perspectives and storytelling techniques from Swedish partners.
Approach and implementation:
During prototyping, contacts are made between Sweden and US. Practice leads knowledge development and participation strengthens relationships
The project focuses on rapidly developing and testing the most critical aspects of the storytelling technique, a move from theoretical idea to practical application. The prototype is documented with the camera function in VRchat, among others, and complemented with participant interviews. This will be part of a guide for immersive storytelling.
