Purpose and goal:
The aim of the staff exchange is to initiate a collaboration between Children´s Hospital of Philadelphia and Karolinska Institutet on OPM-MEG to share data, develop new methods, and define best practices for recording and analyzing data. By jointly developing new methods and standards, we can accelerate the adoption of quantum-enhanced sensor technologies in neuroscience.
Specifically, we plan to record data that will help us validate and evaluate the OPM systems for substantial equivalence with industry standard and test new tools for calibrating OPM-MEG. Expected results and effects:
We expect to start a long-term collaboration that leads to the definition of best practices for recording and analyzing OPM-MEG data. The recorded data will allow us to compare the new OPM systems across sites allowing us to generalise the evaluation against the industry standard. Testing new specifically developed head phantoms is expected to improve calibration procedures leading to better spatial precision.
Approach and implementation:
We will jointly record OPM-MEG and conventional MEG at CHOP and compare the data to recordings done at KI and analyse the data together. In addition to recording MEG, we will test electrical and mechnical phantoms developed specifically for calibrating OPM-MEG systems and analyse the resulting data.
