Purpose and goal:
The project is about creating an application to Eurostars for the development & commercialization of a unique ozone technology aiming at reducing the loss of fruit and vegetables upon storage and transport.
Ozone can have an effect on pathogen growth and on ripening, which implies a more efficient & sustainable distribution of food.
An Innovative ozone technology, efficient even in humid environments, has been developed by PBS (a deeptech company in environmental technology). The project team consists of 2 startups, a university, and a large European distributor of fresh products. Expected results and effects:
This project aims at building an application for submission to Eurostars, a programme focusing on SMEs. On top of this goal, other effects are expected in terms of collaboration between the existing partners, but also in the development of a bigger network of companies who would be interested in joining forces to achieve a significant reduction of food losses via the use of ozone.
One main result remains to receive further financing to support the development of our commercial offer in this field. Approach and implementation:
The project will be executed in multiple phases, each focusing on a different aspect of the work. One work package will focus on the elaboration of a commercialization plan, as it is a main focus for the involved companies as well as for the Eurostars application. A Freedom-to-operate will also be performed with a consulting firm.
Some practical information will be gathered from the literature. Finally, the project will involve a lot of writing to send an application, with the aim of getting a bigger project financed.
