Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

Measure sound and share data via Distributed Ledgers (DL) for automated investigation with acoustic smart contracts and structured data sharing. The core is a smart low-cost measurement platform for rational handling and weighing of disruptive events. The long-term goal is to enable streamlined permitting and authority management of environmental permits in a continuous process with structured data sharing between stakeholders, as well as with automated decisions in near real time.

Expected results and effects:

Prof of concept regarding data sharing and acoustic smart contracts describing cause-effect based on data from a low-cost measurement platform. Developed methodology and legal prerequisites for storage and distribution of data are based on a survey and in-depth interviews with stakeholders, operators and decision makers regarding environmental permits.

Identify ways to objectively measure disturbance/stress/health effects. Create a consortium of committed key actors who want to change the environmental permit process. Approach and implementation:

The project is carried out in collaboration with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the Swedish Transport Agency, the Housing Agency, a municipality and industry players. The implementation includes in-depth interviews, workshops and thesis on the prerequisites and shortcomings of the current system, as well as how a new system can be designed.

LTU coordinates. The focus is how sound and noise affect humans and how this connects to environmental permit processes and legal issues. Qring is responsible for development and programming of the measurement system and DL.
