The project GREPPET will design a working method for green travel plans with a focus on social sustainability.
Green travel plans are a working method for collaboration around sustainable mobility that results in an action plan that companies and organizations sign, a form of climate contract.
In a collaborative design process between the Municipality of Östersund and Åsa Wikberg Nilsson, professor of Design at Luleå University of Technology, the working method is designed.
There is a need to develop knowledge about social sustainability perspectives in sustainable mobility, including indicators for follow-up. Passenger travel accounts for a large part of climate emissions. The municipality can support people´s behavioral changes in climate change with coaching.
This continues the work in previous coaching of individuals to increase motivation, ability and opportunity for behavioral changes. Coaching is offered as an activity in the action plan. The climate transition requires leadership in cooperation. The municipality can take an active role as a pusher and follower.
This means internally develop working methods for new forms of cooperation, not least to be able to strengthen social sustainability at the same time. In the project this work method will be tested in two pilots, one in rural area and one in the city of Östersund.
Both areas have many micro-enterprises that often lack the internal resources within the organization to drive climate change.
