The project "Reduced consumption-based climate emissions and equal living conditions in Avesta" aims to reduce the climate impact from consumption and at the same time improve the quality of life for the municipality´s residents.
The project is based on insights from a preparatory study, with focus groups in three residential areas – a suburb, a rural community and an area with detached houses.
With this project, we will continue to work in these areas to deepen the understanding of how local policies and measures can be adapted to effectively reduce emissions and promote social sustainability.
With a location-based approach and in close collaboration with households, the project develops and tests methods for working with local neighborhoods.
The municipality and the residents jointly identify and implement locally adapted measures that promote sustainable consumption and improve the quality of life.
The goal is for residents to become active co-creators in the climate transition, which increases their commitment and strengthens social cohesion.
The project also establishes an arena for dialogue and knowledge dissemination, both digitally and through physical meetings.
The project´s results and methods will be summarized in a final report and dissemination plans will be aimed at other municipalities as the main target group.
The ambition is to scale up successful work methods to other areas of the municipality and integrate them into the municipality’s regular operations.
