AgroDrive aims to facilitate the transition of the Swedish food chain to rely on fossil-free energy completely by 2050 and largely by 2030. This is specifically directed toward the climate commitments of the sector itself. By phasing out fossil energy, the climate impact is reduced, and preparedness is increased.
AgroDrive will be at the forefront of innovative and effective green solutions, research and policy development. The focus will be on supporting transformation to green logistics in food supply chains and enhance access to raw materials from agriculture for biofuel production.
Attitudes of different actors will be studied when introducing different renewable energy sources in the supply chains, with a focus on Östergötland and Västra götaland.
The establishment of Living Labs, a Policy Lab and a transformation arena will pave the way for the co-creation of new knowledge and cross-sectorial solutions, and foresight will be used as a method for visionary scenarios against which policy and business models can be tested. The center formation is unique and much needed in its structure as it brings together academic partners from RISE, SLU and LU and a broad group of stakeholders in the food chain.
AgroDrive will work as a neutral platform and sounding board for discussions and co-creatining solutions related to cost distribution and transition processes without self-interest, fostering inclusivity and fairness across the industry.
