The project aims to revolutionize real-time assessment of fire smoke´s health and environmental effects by developing an advanced drone-based monitoring and sampling platform integrated with mass spectrometry.
As fires, both natural and industrial, pose a threat to public health and ecosystems, this project addresses the urgent need for rapid and accurate environmental monitoring.
Drones, equipped with advanced sensors, will collect particles from fire smoke for the determination of chemical composition which, together with real-time data, form the basis for decisions on site for risk assessments, extension of fenced areas, and information to the public.
In addition, they form a better basis for overall evaluations of the impact of fires on health and ecosystems. This initiative is consistent with the global goals as it promotes good health, sustainable cities, and combating indirect effects of climate change.
The project addresses key challenges in environmental monitoring, such as real-time data collection, precise pollutant analysis, and safe sampling in hazardous areas.
It represents a significant advance over traditional methods, offering a versatile and scalable solution with potential for national and international applications.
By integrating these advanced methods with machine learning analytics, AeroFireTrack aims to protect public health and preserve ecosystems, as well as improve disaster management for a potential increase in fire incidents.
