The Futures We Build - Visions for Sustainable Built Environment

Revealing the Futures of Sustainable Urban Development!In a world facing challenges addressed in both Smart Built Environment´s four impact goals and Agenda 2030, this project strives to address and overcome these challenges by creating shared visions for a sustainable built futures. A forward-thinking initiative aimed at promoting sustainable growth within the urban planning sector.

Several notable projects have been carried out within the sector, but the ability to apply and concretize these across the entire sector remains a challenging goal to achieve. Shared visions for the future can be a step in the right direction.

The project aims to help the urban planning sector reach its full potential and leverage the opportunities of digitalization to get there.Four interdisciplinary teams with a breadth of expertise in the urban planning sector will, through facilitated processes, create visions.

Visions for the futures of the urban planning sector, visions that come to life when Smart Built Environment´s goals are achieved. These visions will form the basis for innovation, collaboration, and policy development within the sector.

By uniting stakeholders behind shared visions, the project aims to streamline efforts, promote collaboration, and accelerate innovation.The goal is to generate visions that serve as roadmaps for future directions for the urban planning sector. These visions can both hint at and provide clues on how to get there.

This project has been preceded by an initial phase where four teams, through an application process, were selected by an interdisciplinary jury to create the visions.In a facilitated process, these teams will create visions of futures for a sustainable urban planning sector that has embraced the opportunities of digitalization.

The visions will lay the foundation for future innovation, collaboration, and policy development.

The project is unique in its interdisciplinary approach, engaging experts from various corners of the sector to encourage innovative thinking and a holistic view.The project needs to ensure that the teams´ visions have a lasting impact. Therefore the visions will be clarified and made accessible to be useful.

The results, including the visions, will be published and made available for everyone, and the teams will be encouraged to disseminate them through their various channels - they are messengers that help ensure that these visions reach a broader and receptive audience.To create a lasting impact, the project finally defines the practical aspects that can be implemented today, based on current challenges.

Through workshops with relevant stakeholders, the project will lead efforts to organize and drive change within the urban planning sector and ensure that these visions take hold. The focus here is on how the changes will occur, not on what changes should occur. In this phase, the project will identify the essential changes and engage key stakeholders.

By mapping the route to implementation, the visions come closer to reality. This is done together through facilitated workshops and a playbook, developed within the project. The playbook contains a manual with various exercises based on the visions.

The playbook will be disseminated to sector actors and organizations through workshops, seminars, and other relevant events.

It will be available in both digital and physical formats.The intention of this strategy is to ensure that the project and the visions does not end when formalities are over but provides a clear path forward to influence and improve the urban planning sector. That the impact will extend beyond the project´s scope and echo into the future.
