FINEST - Food Innovation Enabling Sustainable Transition, phase 2

FINEST – Food Innovation Enabling Sustainable Transitions – is based on the work carried out over the past four years contributing to the sustainable transition of the Swedish food system through the development, scaling, and implementation of new solutions.

The centre will support the transformation of the food system by providing platforms for researchers and stakeholders to create new knowledge, innovate, and accelerate change in the system.

Focus in the second phase of FINEST will be on three areas: 1) value chains related to forest foods, 2) next generation of plant-based foods as complements or alternatives to meat, and 3) foods that do not need arable land for production.The centre is multidisciplinary and includes the competence areas: sustainability transitions, business model innovation, raw materials and ingredients production, product design, food safety, consumer behaviour, as well as systems thinking and foresight.The goal of FINEST phase two is to contribute towards a sustainable transition of the food system through co-creation and collaboration with stakeholders.

FINEST will create value together with actors in the system who are responsible for making the change happen.The impact of FINEST lies in the multi/transdisciplinary work facilitated by the centre structure with three interconnected arenas (research, innovation, and network), where stakeholder driven processes will be at the core to ensure relevant output and successful implementation
