Purpose and goal:
Aim: Create a prototype of a local food system that gives the participants a multisensory opportunity to experience the effects such a system can have on life, health, ecology, economy, gender equality, and not least the the meal. We can call it social circularity - a food environment where social relations give systemic understanding to those who eat and those creating a circular local food context.
Objective: Methods from speculative design, experimental event production, and co-creative practices are used to produce an interactive experience of a future food environment. Expected results and effects:
The prototype offers its participants several perspectives and inputs to conversations to be developed in the process. It can be about the food environment, local food economies, urban development, social dynamics, ecological effects, and hyperlocal food cultures, which create a multisensory and shared experience for local decision-makers and residents of a common positive food environment.
Approach and implementation:
The prototype includes a meal format with interactive elements, a digital website, and a spatial installation, where participants can experience and participate in a future food situation. By combining digital, physical, and edible elements, an inclusive and engaging experience is created that can be adapted
to different places and contexts. Our future prototype is a format that can travel to different target groups, even after the project period.
