The research project examines the life of prominent Ukrainian historian and public intellectual Ivan L. Rudnytsky (1919-1984), focusing on his diverse education, political choices, academic and intellectual contributions. It traces his academic journey, spanning various institutions and disciplines.

Rudnytsky´s interest in history and politics, his experiences as a refugee during World War II, and his subsequent career as a historian are explored. His impact as a public intellectual and his emphasis on un-ghettoizing Ukrainian historiography are highlighted.

The project also discusses his views on the intellectual culture of the Ukrainian diaspora, Ukrainian nationalism, and relations with neighboring countries. Overall, it provides insights into Rudnytsky´s life, scholarship, and intellectual legacy.
