The task of indoor sensing presents a considerable challenge due to the presence of multiple reflections at lower frequencies, which complicates the accurate localization of targets. Higher frequencies, on the other hand, provide greater accuracy by reducing multi-path variance. However, detecting targets becomes challenging when the line-of-sight signal path is obstructed.
The aim of this project is to develop a Self-powered Cooperative Reflector (SCR) that can be wirelessly controlled.
The SCR will enable cooperative steering of the environment and targets, allowing for micrometer-level detection and identification by an mmW radar.
Our research will focus on the development of SCR design methods, the investigation of unique communication-enabled radar resolution enhancement, and SCR-based electromagnetic environmental steering.
