The main purpose of this project is to examine Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy in the context of Teacher education (TE), through three workshops that brings together leading experts in the field.
The focus of the first two workshops is to identify the different components needed in teachers’ AI literacy, how and when it can be made a part of the Swedish TE curriculum. The third workshop will initiate a research focus on examining AI literacy.
In this project AI literacy is understood as a set of competencies, which are influenced by context, culture, personal and professional values, and subject-specific elements and include technical, human, ethical and sustainable dimensions.
We identify school teachers as key stakeholders and propose to examine and clarify what AI literacy means for them, and how it may be taught to them during teacher education.
With the emergence of Generative AI (GAI) pupils, students and teachers in K-12 and Higher Education are confronted with a range of new tools that emulate human-like performance of text and other multi-modal production.
The availability of such new AI tools involves challenges for teacher’s and TE is one of area where they will gain knowledge about how to address such challenges. The proposed exploratory workshops will target these challenges.
