Purpose and goal:
The way that the public sector is governed today limits rather than accelerates society´s sustainability transition. Therefore, new ways of governing, leading and cooperating within and between political and administrative levels as well as with the rest of society are required. SustainGov aims to facilitate and enable society´s sustainability transition at the systems level by developing new, strategic and mission-oriented instruments, tools and steering mechanisms able to deliver tangible systems effects in practice.
Expected results and effects:
By 2035, the program´s mission is to have achieved a reformed public sector able to holistically promote and facilitate the health and well-being of all residents independently of geography and socio-economic status and ensuring an equitable and inclusive sustainability transition within the planet´s boundaries. This is achieved through a broad portfolio of interventions that enable a transformative change that allows the public sector to move away from “doing things right” to “doing the right things”. In other words, to become the best version of itself.
Approach and implementation:
The programme involves work packages and interventions expected to generate specific outputs and outcomes that enable societal impacts as outlined in the mission. The combination of interventions in the portfolio provides a mix of approaches that directs, promotes, builds capacity for, equips, mobilizes, transforms and instils system innovation within and beyond the public sector.
