Big Science Sweden 2023-2026

Purpose and goal:

Big Science Sweden (BiSS) handles Sweden’s offical Industry Liaison Office visavi 13 large-scale international research facilities. BiSS aims to strengthen the engagement of Swedish companies, institutes and universities in technology development and business at the facilities. The focus is on high-tech contributions that drives innovation, improves the facilities and creates good business in areas of importance to Sweden.

BiSS also aims to transfer technology, knowledge and competence from the facilities in order to strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish business. Expected results and effects:

Big Science Sweden is expected to contribute to creating significant business opportunities in advanced technology and development, to a value of at least 100 MSEK per year. In addition, the work is expected to lead to increased Swedish participation from academia, institutes and industry, in high-tech development projects at the research facilities, as well as in collaboration projects with knowledge transfer focus.

Approach and implementation:

Big Science Sweden will handle the Swedish official Industry Liaison Office within Big Science, matching procurements and opportunities at the facilities with Swedish suppliers, and to create platforms for cooperation between the facilities and Swedish industry, academia and institutes. BiSS intends to continue developing its methodology, and also investigate the possibility of working towards Swedish deliveries to large-scale computing resources.
