The project aims to develop and adapt a prototype system for geoelectric tomography for monitoring of groundwater and the geo-environment for sustainable use and protection of these.
Knowledge of processes that take place below the ground, and are thus invisible, is also important for sustainable management of the built infrastructure.
We have worked with research and development projects with geoelectric tomography in various environmental and infrastructure contexts, which has clearly shown its value. The commercially available measuring systems are not designed for monitoring installations, which makes it necessary to assemble a system of many different parts for monitoring installations.
Data management and interpretation also require several manual steps that require special skills.
This leads to it becoming complicated and expensive, which makes it difficult to apply the method.A prototype instrument that we have developed will be optimised for monitoring installations.
Algorithms will be streamlined in an automated data flow for measurement, data transfer, quality control, filtering, model interpretation, analysis and visualisation in interpretable form. The prototype system will be installed and tested at an infiltration pond of the Vomb MAR plant, to allow evaluation of the functionality and finetuning within easy reach to minimize logistics.
The resulting data can contribute useful information for optimising the water works operation.
