The purpose of this research environment is to investigate how the digitalisation of the school affects learning and inclusion in group work for students with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and students with visual impairment.
The aim is to explore the conditions that currently prevail for these students in terms of the effects that digitalisation in school have, but also whether multisensory interfaces together with an inclusive pedagogical approach can ensure that more of these students can reach the knowledge goals according to the school curriculum.
The project is interdisciplinary, researchers in human-computer interaction, informatics, computer science, digitalization of the public sector, design sciences, accessibility studies and pedagogy will find solutions that can have a large impact on groups of pupils that are disadvantaged by current teaching methods and materials.
Interviews with teachers and students and observations in schools with a focus on how group work is performed and experienced today regarding inclusion, ability to achieve the stipulated learning criterias and ability to concentrate.
Next, this will be compared in intervention studies investigating if multisensory learning environments improve students ability to fulfil the same learning criteria.
In parallel, the knowledge acquired in the project is applied into a learning context through close collaboration with the teacher education programs at KTH, Örebro U. and Södertörn U.
