Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

The purpose of this project is to develop a prototype of a measurement system that uses graphene arrays as the main component. The idea is to be able to improve resistance calibrations for industry in the future by offering a unique product that generates quantized resistance values in a much wider range than before.

The results of this project exceeded expectations and will lead to a record-fast development from research in a lab environment to use in industrial applications for graphene arrays. The parties in this project have already started an official commercial collaboration. Expected results and effects:

The project fulfilled all objectives and resulted in the development of a working prototype of a measurement system with graphene arrays.

The array performance was verified with careful precision measurements. They have also been tested with commercial measuring equipment and can maintain their performance even when using simpler hardware. The growth process of the graphene material has also been improved by scaling up the area by an order of magnitude.

Due to these positive results, we have already piqued the interest of industry and have already received the first purchase orders. Approach and implementation: The setup was such that each party focused on their specialty area. RISE focused on fabricating arrays with metrological performance.

Measurements International tested these arrays in a commercially compatible environment. Graphensic guaranteed access to graphene material and worked to improve growth process. This division worked well, which is reflected in the positive end result.
