Myfab is Sweden’s open-access micro- and nanotechnology research infrastructure, with cleanroom laboratories at Chalmers, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Lund University and Uppsala University.
The infrastructure provides an outstanding environment for the development and fabrication of materials and device structures for advanced research in physics, materials science, nanoscience, chemistry, life sciences and nanoelectronics.
The user community, including holders of 24 ERC and 30 KAW grants, produce more than 800 peer-reviewed publications and about 60 Ph.D. students emanate from the environment each year.
Myfab also provides an innovation platform for industry and deep-tech start-ups, with more than 120 active companies during the period 2020–2022.Myfab is a dynamic environment, where about 1/3 of our 800+ users are replaced every year.
Most of our PI´s are top international researchers attracted by the opportunities the infrastructure provides, and we anticipate a growing demand from researchers in new and expanding areas targeting the grand challenges and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.By extending our user support and with much needed investments, Myfab will be prepared for new tasks and to enable recent initiatives, such as WISE and the European Chips Act, where Myfab and Sweden should have important roles to play.
With the applied funding, Myfab will be even more agile to adapt to the ever-changing directions of the research community in Sweden.
