Bringing together a new generation of scholars of antisemitism, this project aims to stimulate cross-fertilization between research on antisemitism and studies of gender, religion and secularity.
We will achieve this by initiating and advancing interdisciplinary conversations on three specific but overlapping themes: (i) Jewish everyday practice; (ii) Anti-Jewish racism; and (iii) Ethics, aesthetics and politics of intergenerational memories.
Approaching these themes through the analytical categories of gender and sexuality, our goal is to open up new research questions and develop novel analytical concepts and methodological approaches to study certain challenging issues in research on antisemitism.
Across two years, a cross-disciplinary core group of five researchers from history, gender studies and aesthetics will bring together a broad international network of 14 prominent scholars in the research area, to gather and disseminate knowledge on the topic through the organization of joint workshops, international conferences, a master class, and co-written publications.
These activities will produce specific insights into the dynamics explored, and function as an interactive knowledge base from which we develop analytical concepts and methodological approaches. These will be integrated into a collaboratively written research proposal in the final phase of the project.
