Purpose and goal:
To deploy, test quantum key distribution systems tailored to the specific needs of Sweden. This includes validation of different implementations to identify the most effective solutions to fit Sweden’s needs for secure communications in metropolitan, long distance networks and terrestrial-satellite links.
To create a national community focussed on advancing quantum technology, foster collaboration between research partners and industrial companies, ranging from Ericsson to emerging spinoffs. Expected results and effects: Creation of a national testbed for secure quantum communication technologies Development of user cases and training of skilled workforce in quantum communications in Sweden
Integration of the Swedish infrastructure in the pan European EuroQCI and cyber security network Approach and implementation:
The project shall establish a central facility in Stockholm-Albanova open to users from academia and industry and supporting training and education activities in Sweden. The Stockholm hub will be at the core of the development of user cases on the metropolitan network, as well as of quantum-secured long-distance links extending all the way to Linköping and encompassing also free-space communication, providing pilot studies for further scaling up to a national level and addressing the next stages in EuroQCI with cross-border connections.
