The research idea of this project is to develop new research questions and methods based on the digital learning lab as a hub for a research agenda for the forthcoming one to three, and five to ten year period.
The workshops planned for follow a design-based research approach focused on exploring possibilities for novel learning and teaching environments, developing contextualised theories of learning and teaching, constructing cumulative design knowledge, and increasing human capacity for innovation.
The project aims at exploring and developing the digital learning lab as a hub for developing a research agenda involving different technologies, school subjects, other (learning) organisations, higher educational settings, and cooperative partners.
It will build on possibilities and challenges identified in, and through, the experimental work performed at the digital learning lab. This exploratory workshop series will be conducted during two years. The workshops will have four distinct foci. The first will focus on communicative issues in relation to digital technology use.
The second will focus on simulations as a means to train difficult real-world situations. The third will have a focus on motivation and educational strategies such as game based learning. The fourth will have a focus on professional digital competence in the use of digital technologies for education.
The sum of the work in the workshop series will be a research agenda set for a short and long term.
