Purpose and goal:
C3NiT explores new findings in the area of III-nitride electronics to enable increased capacity and efficiency in communication, sensor and power systems. The centre uniquely encompasses research ranging from basic material research to advanced device concepts and integrated circuits. The vision of the centre is to deliver novel solutions for high-frequency and high-power applications using III-nitride technology by performing research and innovation that combine new findings within the value chain in order to challenge and outperform commercial solutions.
Expected results and effects:
Expected results from C3NiT are to have developed and strengthened the Swedish Industry-Academia Cluster on group III-nitrides in terms of more efficient collaboration and by attracting new industrial partners. We expect to have identified and initiated activities in new areas where III-N electronics can be utilized, and to have promoted the mobility between industry and academia.
Knowledge transfer to the industrial partners will be accelerated and availability of III-N electronics for the industrial partners will be ensured via growth of a Swedish and European supply-chain. Approach and implementation:
We will develop the infrastructures for material growth; device and circuit fabrication, and characterization at academia in order to support relevant industrial collaborations. The existing innovation systems at LU, LiU and Chalmers will be used to accelerate knowledge transfer to the industrial partners. Mobility between industry and academia will be promoted by encouraging and supporting long term stays, guest lecturing, supervision etc.
We will initiate and attract new international academic and industrial collaboration partners through research programs in the centre.
