Electromagnetic interference and compatibility for the autonomous airport

Purpose and goal:

The project´s objective has been to create a consortium and plan a project on electromagnetic interference and compatibility in the airport environment, including requirements, regulations and measurement. Based on the parties´ combined knowledge base, the project has created a framework for a full-scale project comprising six work packages; Project management, Stability in conditions, Standardization, Competence, Modeling and Verification - measurement and monitoring. An identified opportunity for funding a continuation project is Trafikverkets Luftfartportfölj.

Expected results and effects:

The pre-study has provided a comprehensive picture of the status in Sweden regarding EMC and EMI in the airport environment. This includes practical experience from measurements, in-depth knowledge of regulations, insight into the challenges faced by those who wish to establish activities such as solar cells in the airport environment, operations at regional airports, challenges and planning and investigations for state airports, as well as operation of airspace, equipment and services. Based on this knowledge the project has created a draft for a full-scale project in the area.

Approach and implementation:

The project has been conducted with a focus on information gathering from participating parties. Luleå University of Technology has had the biggest role in the project as project manager. Other parties have contributed with specific documents, had dialogue in direct contact with the project manager, and also participated in two physical meetings.

In aim of creating as broad an understanding of the area as possible, contact has also been made within the project with organizations and individuals who have not been participating parties in the project.
