The practice-oriented research school ASSURE (Adaptation of urban Space through SUstainable Regeneration) will build knowledge and competence about sustainable renovation and transformation processes.
The graduate school is a collaboration between Divisions of Building Service and Building Physics at Faculty of Engineering, Lund University, the Unit for Real Estate Science at Malmö University, the Department of Cultural Conservation at Campus Gotland, Uppsala University and the Urban Development Unit at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.ASSUER gathers four real estate companies: Vasakronan AB, AB Framtiden, Stena Fastigheter AB Malmö and HSB Malmö, the architects Krook&Tjäder and project developers Structor Projektledning Malmö AB, CFFF Centre for Real Estate Entrepreneurship at Malmö University and CMB Centre for Management of the Built Environment who will bring challenges from practice.
The Swedish National Heritage Board and the National Board of Housing Building and Planning contribute with their perspectives on policy and regulations concerning regeneration.
All partners will meet twice a year to discuss the progress of the research school.ASSURE funds eight doctoral students who during their education collaborate with the external parties that are part of ASSURE, with the goal that after their degree they will be able to take on the role of integrators between academia and practice and bring knowledge and innovation to the built environment sector.
